Create your survey
1. The first step is to create your survey.
Once you log into Chorus you will see an add button under "My Apps"
2. Go ahead and give your survey a name and description.
If you want to follow along with us, we named ours "Easy Survey Tutorial App." Then click "Create App."
Add Your First Interaction
Now it's time to add your questions / fields where you will collect data.
1. Click on the compose" icon on the left of the screen and select "New Mobile" as the type of interaction.
An "interaction" is basically a page in your survey.
2. A pop up will show up where you will give the interaction a name.
This will be the name of the page but it will also be the name of the data table (in Chorus we call this a "Variable") that you are saving the data to.
With that in mind, think about the questions you are asking and how you might categorize them efficiently.
3. From here, go ahead and click on "Survey"
Also, notice that you can change how you view the display at the bottom of the screen (mobile, tablet OR desktop).
We recommend viewing in desktop when building.
4. A confirmation will pop up asking you to confirm that this is what you want to name the survey within your app and what you want to name your data table. Click "Next"
Add Your Questions
1. Click the bar with the "+" icon in it to add your first "elements."
These are your survey questions.
When the "elements" pop up, we are going to focus on the bottom portion, titled, "Input".
Specifically, we will be adding text, email, pick from list & date fields to our survey for this tutorial.
2. Here are the questions we will put on our survey and how we will configure them. Press the "+" button each time to add each question.
The "name" field is what the column in your data table will be called.
In Chorus we refer to this as the "variable field."
The "caption" is what the person taking your survey will see on the screen. You can see a preview of it to the right of the screen.

Pro Tip! When creating your name fields, the system is most responsive to lowercase letters. |
|
First we will add a short text question. Choose "text"
|
|
|
Next we will add email. Choose the "email" element so the system validates the input as an email address |
|
|
Next we will add birthdate Choose a "date field" element to validate the input as a date |
|
|
Next we will add a single select drop down list. Choose the "Pick from List" element. We made ours a single select, drop down but as you can see, there are other options.
|
3. Now your survey is ready but you'll notice that the button to submit is towards the top of the screen. We want it to show up after the questions are complete.
Let's go ahead and move that to the bottom by hovering over it.
From there, select the down arrow until it moves to the bottom of the page.

The last step is to share or "mobilize" your survey.
1. Click on the "Mobilize" icon on the left side navigation and expand the "Default Mobile" menu.
2. From here:
1) Choose your "Starting Interaction" which is where people will land when they first click on your survey. What is the first page you want them to see?
2) Switch your survey to "pubic access" for now so anyone can access it
3) Turn your survey "on"
4) The URL at the top of the page is the link to your survey!
